In a deep snowy area, the thatched roof gassho-zukuri that was devised to withstand heavy snowfall is too famous as a symbol of the Japanese rural landscape.

You can enjoy the four seasons, with cherry blossoms in spring, colored leaves in autumn, and a snowy landscape in winter.

Scarecrows are also famous in Shirakawa-go.

It’s a doll made of bamboo or straw that is installed in a rice field or a field to ward off harmful animals such as birds that damage crops, or something similar.
