Tokyo's No. 1 Cat Cafe! Cat Cafe Mocha

Posted on October 23, 2020

Attention all cat lovers! When visiting Tokyo or other big cities in Japan, Cat Cafe Mocha will be your number one rest spot in between your sightseeing adventures. The beautifully designed cafe chain opened in February 2015 and now sports dozens of different cat breeds in over 20 stores strewn across Tokyo and now even in the distant cities of Osaka, Kyoto, and Nagoya! The architecture makes for true cat heaven (with great and comfortable seating available for humans too!)

Why not kill some time at Cat Cafe Mocha in total relaxation with a drink in hand while playing with these graceful furry creatures? The drink bar is open for customers with an all-you-can-drink service including tea and other drink items, all for 350 yen. You can also purchase treats for 500 yen to feed the kitties or otherwise wait to watch them get fed by the staff during their meal times at 10:30 am and 7:30 pm.

This photo was taken at the Shinjuku branch! Can you spot the beautiful bengal with its magnificent coat?

What sets Cat Cafe Mocha apart from other cat cafes is its creative architecture designed specifically for the comfort of both cats and humans to relax to the fullest. There are plenty of rest spots for the cats to chill and retreat to if they ever feel too overwhelmed This cafe chain is also spotlessly clean considering the fact that it does house CATS … hardly a stray hair in sight! And no smell ?!

This cat lives in the Akihabara branch!

The cats here are typically between 1 and 4 years old. They have many different breeds including long-haired beauties like this guy such as Maine Coon, Norwegian Forest Cat, Siberian, Ragdoll, and Persian. Other popular breeds are also featured like Munchkin, Scottish Fold, American Shorthair, and British Shorthair.

There are also rarer breeds such as Oriental Shorthair, Kinkalow, Skookum, Ragamuffin, Napoleon, Egyptian Mau, and Himalayan for the more exotic cat lovers out there.

This ginger cutie can be found at the Osaka branch!

The cafes are always located in close proximity to the station so you’ll find many people coming here on their breaks or on their way home from work. In Tokyo, their main branches include Shibuya, Harajuku, Akihabara, Shinjuku, and Ikebukuro.

Don’t hesitate to bring your book or laptop to come and work for a few hours as there is free wifi available and lots of table space. They’re so well equipped that they even have plug points for charging on the desks and extra USB cables in the case that you’ve forgotten your own! The bookshelves also hold lots of manga and magazines if you’re coming empty handed. But I can assure you that you’ll never be bored regardless with so many cats to keep you entertained. !!

This cat can be found hiding out at the Shibuya branch.

These cats enjoy the most spectacular views as the cafes are often located on the higher floors of buildings. What a life! Plenty of bird-watching too, I’m sure …
