Have You Watched Japan's Movie of the Year?

Posted on December 18, 2020

Kimetsu no Yaiba has taken Japan by storm, and it looks like the nationwide obsession isn’t letting down any time soon. Although the Kimetsu no Yaiba: Mugen Train movie was released back in October, it is Japan’s highest grossing film of the year and is set to pass Spirited Away, Japan’s highest grossing film of all-time.

Artist LiSA, who performs the KNY anime opening “Gurenge,” is back with “Homura,” the movie’s theme song. The movie follows the Mugen Train arc and brings back our favorite characters, while highlighting Rengoku, Enmu, and Akaza.

While this arc can be found in the 7th and 8th volumes of the manga, it has also been novelized and features the movie poster as its cover.

Just in time for winter break, a new 4D experience of the movie is also set to be released on December 26th. If you’re in Japan, look up your nearest 4D theater and feel like riding on the Mugen Train yourself! Grab some popcorn and get ready for the ride of your life💫

Beyond constantly selling out on KNY goods and themed items, the movie has also inspired impressive cosplays. Check out @setsalonmagica_cosmake‘s bad ass cosplays of Rengoku, Akaza, and Enmu! With rumors of a Kimetsu no Yaiba live-action on the way, perhaps it will look something like this…?

You don’t want to be the only one missing out on this series, so if you haven’t already, read the manga and/or watch the anime, and head out to watch Japan’s movie of the year!

While we won’t spoil anything, if you didn’t like Rengoku before, you might change your mind after the movie. (PS: don’t worry, you won’t be the only one crying in the theaters😉)

The movie is set to go overseas in early 2021, but who else is dying to see it already?
