Posted on January 4, 2021

Happy New Year! New years in Japan means hatsumode, osechi, otoshidama, and more. As the new year rings in, so do the great deals from stores with fukubukuro! Fukubukuro are also known as happy bags or lucky bags, and are typically mystery bags sold at discount prices. From fast food chains to clothing brands and more offering lucky bags, you’re sure to find a great fukubukuro no matter your interests.

For 2021, Ravissant, a handmade accessory shop, is offering a 3-piece bundle that would typically retail for 5,000 yen for only 3,000 yen. For practically 1000 yen a piece, their happy bag includes a mystery accessory, a dried flower ring, and a pair of (dried) rose earrings. For such elegant and carefully crafted pieces, this is a deal that fashionistas shouldn’t miss out on!

Getting your nails done in Japan can be so expensive, but Nail Fleurir’s (@mm.603) New Years happy bag deal is here to save your nails and your wallet! While these “bags” range between 8,500 yen and 10,500 yen depending on the designs you purchase, these prices are basically 3 manicures for the price of one. @jm_ut_mb_com_‘s set included an in-store design (left), a surprise design (right), and a choice design (top). What a great way to start off the new year with such cute manicures!

Fashion brands like SLY are also offering a killer deal with their New Years bags, with these stylish bags being stuffed with items totaling over 70,000 yen! Their bag doesn’t retail for 35,000 yen or even 20,000 yen– priced at 10,000 yen you’re only paying 14% of retail price! Happy bags like this aren’t limited to just SLY, so be sure to check your favorite brands from now on when the new year approaches.

Some lucky bags need to be pre-ordered while others will sell out in a heartbeat, but they will always come around every new year. Even if you missed the opportunity to snag a bag this year, be on alert next year!
